Practical Ideas on How to Use Storage Sheds

Many homeowners have a storage shed in their backyard. After all, it is a great way to keep and organize gardening tools, hoses, pots, lawnmowers, and so on. But in this modern era, storage sheds are not just for storage anymore. Here are some creative ways people all over the world are using their sheds.

Private Retreat
Some days, we just need to get away from it all; the noise and busyness of life. What a better way to cure stress by going to your private retreat, light some candles, and get back in touch with yourself. Storage sheds provide the perfect space for you to do that - to think, meditate, read, or just relax. Consider bringing in some nature in with you like, flowers and rocks to give you the smells and textures you miss when you spend a great part of your life at work.

Home Office Space
If you work from home and have a small house, it can be easy for you to get distracted with the chores around the house and other activities your family is involved in. A larger storage shed can be transformed into a home office, where you could focus on your work.

Craft or Workshop Shed
If your crafting materials are taking over your house, it might be time to move your crafting materials into your a craft shed. To transform your shed into a craft room you will need to add shelves or cabinets for storage, separate all of your supplies and place them in plastic storage containers, label each container so it will be easy to find what you need.

Artist Shed
If your family are artistically inclined, a shed could not only be helpful in keeping the mess out of your home but it could also create a special atmosphere where yours and your children's creative juices could be encouraged. For an artist shed, you would want to choose a model with large windows for as much natural light as possible. Plant some flowers in your garden and place some bird feeders close by for some extra inspiration.

Potting Shed
A shed makes a nice working area for beginners as well as experienced gardeners. It is warm enough to start new plants in the spring and cool enough to store bulbs in the fall. Add some shelves for pots and potting utensil, a potting table or bench and you are good to go.

Of course, many of these new ways to use a storage shed will require a little of a transformation of an original shed. Most will need insulation, electricity, cooling and heating. Depending on what you will do with your shed, you might even need some permits. So, make sure you do your homework before embarking on one of these projects.
