How To Look Your Best Over 40s
While not many of us are looking forward to getting old, fact is it's a natural process and an inevitable part of life. Some may resort to beauty procedures to hide away the ageing signs like fine lines and wrinkles, others can count on their great genes in not ageing fast but what's crucial is to learn how to accept it, be fine with it and make the most of it.
Though it might not appear so at first, the way you dress can also have an impact on how old you look and give you an opposite effect of what you're expecting so a lesson would be to age your style accordingly. For example, it's understandable to be up for keeping up the step with trends but only as long as they're in favour of your looks.
Sure you may like ripped denim however that doesn't mean you can look great in it in your 40s. Instead of risking to look tacky why not give occasion dresses for over 40s a try? They're versatile, available in a variety of designs, they're comfortable and best of all with the help of accessories and shoes you can use them for casual and special events alike.
It's okay to show some skin but not every piece of clothing you like is actually going to make your body look great so it's always best to choose something sensual. One example for this would be miniskirts and shorts; you might have liked wearing them in the past but in your 40s they're not really an option, as opposed to body flattering occasion dresses for over 40s.
Speaking of flattering, steer away from anything that doesn't suit your body shape and learn how to combine different styles and pieces of clothing. For instance, a loose sweater or blouse can go well with jeans or pencil skirt, however pair them with baggy pants and you risk looking like you have yet to outgrow your outfit.
Also, don't go for matchy-matchy looks because it's outdated and besides there's fun in mixing and matching items. Accessories are more than welcome but same as with the clothing pieces, it's essential to be careful with the choices you make.
You may find hair accessories adorable but in your 40s and over you risk looking childish rather than stylish, so if you're not exactly sure which category they fall into, it's best to stay away from them and stick to jewellery, belts and hats instead. And most importantly, feel confident!
